Korda Studios is happy to welcome the cast and crew of Showtime's next large-scale new TV mini-series, The Borgias. The Canadian-Irish-Hungarian coproduction will be working at Korda Studios, making use of numerous stages and a large portion of the extensive backlot set. Principal photography will begin in the summer.

The series revolves around a powerful and corrupt 15th-century Italian family headed by patriarch Rodrigo Borgia (to be played by Oscar-winner Jeremy Irons), who became Pope Alexander VI in 1492.

Colm Feore (24; Bon Cop Bad Cop) plays Rodrigo's arch nemesis Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, and François Arnaud (J'ai tué ma mère; Yamaska) plays Cesare Borgia, Rodrigo's son.

The directors will include Neil Jordan (The Crying Game), who also executive produces, and Jeremy Podeswa (The Pacific, Five Senses). Paul Sarossy (The Listener, Chloe) will be the director of photography and the production designer will be François Seguin (The Barbarian Invasions, Lucky Number Slevin).

The series will air in early 2011.
